Vision & Statement:

Florida Flight 1 is responsible for the safe, rapid transport of critically ill patients, providing quality emergency intervention while en route to health care facilities where definitive care can be administered.

Program History:

Florida Flight 1 is a hospital based program that began formal operations in 1986. The program flies the American Eurocopter EC-145 twin jet turbine helicopter, currently operated by Metro Aviation, and is staffed by highly qualified critical care registered nurses and respiratory therapists. Their goal is to ensure speedy and safe transport of patients to facilities both within and outside the Florida Hospital system.

The program focuses on inter-facility transports, and offers a climate controlled rapid transport system that combines mobility and speed as well as cabin space for the medical crew to function in any in-flight medical emergency.
