EMS, Air Medical and Management Consultant
Jana Williams is a Vice President for a leader in the air medical industry specializing in customized air medical solutions. She spends time with programs across the country enhancing existing services as well as developing new partnerships. Prior to that, she was the Program Director for a busy emergency and critical care air and ground transport service, serving the Rocky Mountain region.
Ms. Williams has almost 30 years of EMS and nursing experience, beginning as a volunteer EMT outside of Chicago, IL. She enjoyed flight nursing for many years in Rockford, IL and Denver, CO. She has held leadership positions in EMS, flight nursing, trauma and disaster management and has worked in ground, rotor and fixed-wing environments.
Ms. Williams is most passionate about EMS safety and coined the phrase “Safety is not Proprietary” to harness the power of sharing safety lessons even across typically competitive lines. She has created and fostered many safety stand-down programs in the industry. She is currently the President of the National EMS Memorial Service, an organization congressionally selected to honor those in EMS who have made the ultimate sacrifice giving their lives in the line of duty. She also interfaces with the Air Medical Memorial and National EMS Memorial Bike Ride groups as a liaison. Her zeal for safety and honoring EMS line of duty deaths is inherent, however this has been fueled by the loss of close friends, in particular her teammates in a 1997 helicopter crash.
Ms. Williams enjoys teaching and has written for several industry publications. She has conducted research on ADD in EMS. She is also a Regent at the International Medical Transport Leadership Institute (MTLI), a comprehensive educational venture focused on enhancing industry leaders with the Certified Medical Transport Executive (CMTE) certification and experience.
Ms. Williams is a registered nurse who graduated from the Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, IL and received a BSN with honors from Regis University in Denver, CO. She is the recipient of several professional awards including the 2012 Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS) President’s Award for contributions to the industry.
Ms. Williams is most proud of her title of “Favorite Aunt Jana” to the many real and “almost” nieces and nephews in her life.
